Retouch Your Floors

If your floors are looking rough then it might be time to give your home a little touch up. You don't have to hire a professional just to refinish your hardwood floors. This task can be cheaper than you think and will turn your home from bland to exciting and new. So, if you can follow a few simple steps then you can get the floors you've always dreamed of and keep them.

The first thing you need to get your floors ready is to move out all of the furniture. You will also have to remove your base boards and cover up your electric fixtures with tape so you won't have to worry about damaging things. Once everything is out of the room then you will want to carefully run a vacuum over the floor. This is the best way to remove dust and debris so you can get the best finished look possible.

Once the floor has been cleaned you will want to go over it with sandpaper. If the entire floor looks rough then it might be wise to rent a sander for this task. If not, then it should be fine just to go over specific areas of the room. When you've finished sanding the floor then will want to go over it with the vacuum again to ensure that all the sawdust is off of the ground. When this is finished then you will want to delicately go over the floor with the stain of your choice. It might be easiest to go over half of the floor and work on the other half when it has dried. When you are pleased with the stained look make sure the floor is dry and move your furniture back in.

Restoring your floors can be one of the easiest household task on your list, so don't wait around to get the job done. Once you have finished with the floors you will surely feel a lot better about the way your home looks. This task doesn't have to done often so once you've finished you can simply sit back and enjoy your new look.
