Home repair will require that you some tools handy. Having the right tools and equipment can make the work easier, safer, and faster. These tools will help you measure, mark, cut, fasten, join, and apply. Now, as with anything else, remember that quality matters. Yes, you can use cheap tools from the $1 store and they will probably work fine for a while. But soon you may find yourself replacing these same tools. Here are some of the basic measuring tools you will be needing:
1) Measuring tape: A 20 to 25 foot measuring tool that is essential for all types of jobs around your house. It will be an indispensable tool.
2) Metal rule or Straightedge: A metal ruler will also come useful when measuring. It will not only help you measure though. It can also be used as a guide when using a utility knife.
3) Speed square: A speed square will help you mark angles and draw guidelines.
4) Torpedo Level: A torpedo level will help you check whether doors, rods, shelves or any other object that is hanging straight vertically or horizontally.
5) Carpenter pencil: A carpenter pencil is the complementary tool so you can mark measurements and guidelines. You can also opt for a regular #2 pencil.
In the next article, we will continue to explore more tools of the trade. Until next time!
